Custom 500 kg Roll Handler for a Narrow Aisle in Indonesia

Project Background and Challenge
A factory in Indonesia needed to handle rolls between closely positioned production machines. The available passage was approximately 500 mm wide, while the required load capacity was 500 kg. A conventional truck layout could not readily accommodate both requirements, making overall width, structural arrangement and attachment clearance central to the project.

The KAYOND Solution
Using the customer’s site dimensions, equipment layout and roll specifications, KAYOND prepared 2D drawings and a 3D model to simulate aisle access, roll gripping and positioning at the production equipment. Key dimensions and operating clearances were reviewed with the customer before production.

With the 500 kg capacity requirement as a design priority, KAYOND optimized the chassis, lifting structure and attachment layout to minimize overall width within the project’s constraints. A roll clamp with padded contact plates and a rotation mechanism addressed the gripping and orientation requirements.

Project Value
This project demonstrates KAYOND’s approach to application-specific customization. Aisle dimensions, load capacity and roll handling requirements were considered together, with 2D and 3D simulations supporting spatial verification before production. The resulting compact design provided a roll handling solution tailored to the customer’s existing production layout.
